Просмотров 1,4 тыс.4 месяца назад
In this short video, we highlight key points to remember when buying a solar filter. Measure twice, buy once! When measuring be sure to measure at the widest part of your telescope or binoculars body. Filters will denote sizing differently depending on the brand, but often will call out an outer diameter fit in a range of millimeters or inches. You may also find filter brands that provide an in...

Claude Plymate Solar Observation with a BIG telescope
Amazing thank you 🙂
You would never see the ISS if it was REALLY 400KM .away. A passenger airplane looks like a similar tiny dot at only 10km high. It doesnt take very advanced math to figure it out
Fantastic
needs explanations as you switch views.
If woodland hills bought the entire inventory, how would a warranty replacement works out years down the line?
We need more!!! This was fantastic
? What camera was used
I'm a complete beginner and that chat is brilliant, thank you!
The Hubble Deep Field image was released in 1996. Don Pensack took one look and said "I already saw all of these objects through my Televue 101." The NASA scientists, humbled by this observation, accelerated planning for the James Webb Telescope that same year. Little did they know that Don Pensack's vision extends well into the infrared...
🤣😂
Very entertaining. Good stuff.
Starman1, we salute you.
i hope you can make some video with daystar again, soon!
Great! We need more interviews with veteran observers.
I lived in the high desert of Southern California in a ranch type area that had clear dry skies for 35 years where I had wonderful nights under the prestine skies, then I retired to North Carolina where I see …. Clouds. Thanks guys for taking me back to the joy of visual observation! I subscribed.
Mr Pensack, he is always there to share experiences
How lucky I am! This outstanding interview just showed up in my RUclips feed. I know both Dr.D and Don Pensack. If you are into visual observing, like I am, take whatever they are saying to the bank. These two are icons in our wonderful hobby. Best wishes to both of them, Brandon Hamil “The Traveling Astronomer”
Don the wise guy I follow for so many years in CN is actually real ? Glad to hear your voice, I've learned so much from you, this is like a teaching class every time I read a topic where you're in. Bons ciels ! Jean-Gaël, France
Don--did you receive your Waite telescope? If so, do you like it?
Don, you gave me outstanding advice and help building my eyepiece collection.
From Europe: Don is an INTER-national treasure! Thanks Don for the tons of top-notch advice you share with us all astro-nuts around the world. And for being a real prince, always!
Looking good Don !
Great interview. Definitely some awesome nuggets of wisdom for those looking to build upon their observing skills.
thank you Don and Doctor D!!
Yeah, I don't like the Tirion atlases because they lack constellation lines.
Don such a legend. Thanks for sharing your knowledge all these years.
Yay! You guys rock! Both of you have been tremendous inspirations for me. Clear skies! Thomas, Denmark
That was fun. Always wondered how Don would sound.
Eventually you're gonna have to respond to messages
So! You've been using these as door stops for NINE MONTHS!!!! Are they empty housings??? Here's a radical idea, plug one in and turn it on!!!!!!
legend
I solved my frustration with the Celestron AVX mount. I threw it in the trash....literally. I've replaced the motor control board, hand controllers (yes, 2 of them), did numerous hardware updates, bought new power supplies and now I will never have to mess with that nightmare mount again. I just bought the ZWO AM3 from you guys today which will work with every scope I own. I did keep the AVX tripod legs as I think they may come in handy down the road.
Simon: how do you align your scope? One star alignment?
Great tutorial that I have used numerous times. But I do think its funny how the thumbnail is just a random image on the nasa website with the URL showing 😂
It's been a few years since this video, does anyone know which Sony Chip was used for the Jupiter captures?
Very informative. Thanks
What a great presentation and a great tool. Thanks for doing this.
Awesome tutorial A go to video for me. I didn't realize that flats can remove Newton rings
Great video ty
I just bought the AM5 and PE200 pier extension from you guys! I also bought the rods, that allow me to downsize to the P120 you reviewed here. You mention the plates on the pier being directly interchangeable with other manufacturers Tripods. My discussion with your store didn't support this claim. I also want to mention that you seem to have inventory when the bigger stores may be back ordered.
Does it also accurately tell the scope where north is etc? I'm old school so I'm used to having to find N and set the wedge. Ideally, I'd like a setup where I could set the scope on the tripod, and let it figure out how to keep my scope tracking like a clock drive. I'm not overly worried about automatically locating objects.
Science, for the win.
Many thanks!
Yea, I did something really silly recently. I "thought" PHD2 was taking exposures that were too long, and I was thinking that if the exposures were faster then PHD2 could compensate more quickly, so I set the exposure time down to a fraction of a second. Then I sat back, happy, watching the magnified star and the little red crosshair, frantically jumping all over the place as PHD2 was trying to compensate... and of course my guiding was terrible. It took me longer than I'd like to admit to realise I was "chasing the seeing" and it hit me like a ton of bricks, when I realised that the 60s subs I was taking _before_ I started guiding were far better than the subs I got while guiding! I really felt like they put the D in PHD2 just for me at that moment..
I have the 60. Do you have recommendations which cameras and mounts to purchase to use with this model?
Indeed one can adjust the settings to so sensitive that PHD over corrects and becomes the problem itself. The answer is simply stop being paranoid, adjust once and leave it alone.
If people just read the PHD2 manual, the sections about guiding and mount issues, there would be a lot less drama all over the forums and groups.
Un' eccellenza italiana
Very good tutorial. Thanks
Hello, Could you give us the exact reference for the 2 eye piece adaptator you use in this video when you have screwed it in the FC 100 DC please?
Framerate of 3 thats impossible for this result
